CATEGORIES

Middle Years (grades 6 to 9) Poetry or Prose

High School (grades 10-12) Poetry or Prose

**Entries must not exceed 1000 words.

**All high school senior poetry and short story submissions are automatically entered into competition for a cash prize: either $50 for Best Senior Short Story or $50 for Best Senior Poem.


RULES

  • SUBMITTING TEACHERS MUST BE MEMBERS OF STELA.

  • Teacher or individual students may submit entries.
  • Class sets will not be judged. Judges are volunteers. Please submit the best from class sets to be fair to our judges.
  • Teachers may make suggestions for the revision of the writing and should see that works are edited for spelling, punctuation and typographical errors.
  • Entries must be typed in Times New Roman, 12 point font with standard margins.
  • Entries must be emailed to onthehorizon@sasktel.net by February 1, 2010. Only entries that are sent electronically will be considered.
  • On The Horizon is the ONLY student writing publication sponsored by the Saskatchewan Teachers of English Language Arts.
  • On the Horizon will take on an online format this year. The publication will be available online at www.stela.ca. Students with work included in On The Horizon will receive a copy of the publication on CD.

Closing date is February 1, 2010

The entry form MUST be mailed to the address below as a parental signature is required for publication. All entries become the property of the Saskatchewan Teachers of English Language Arts and will not be returned.
